E.J. Victor Launches Totally Customized Upholstery Program: "Whatever
You Want."
Capitalizing on the innovative upholstering talent of its manufacturing teams, and building
on a culture of providing customers with superior and unique seating, premiere furniture crafter E.J. Victor
unveiled an upholstery program letting customers design their own sofas, chairs, loveseats and other seating.
Called E.J.
Victor Custom, the program offers complete personalization of any in-line silhouette. Customers can alter
styles of arms, change depths of seats and adjust heights of backs and widths of frames. They can specify
the number and type of cushions and define skirt treatments, decorative trims, wood finishes and other upholstery
options. They can provide their own fabrics or choose from any of E.J. Victor's over 2,000 fabrics.
Simply put, customers can order "whatever they want," said Joseph B. Manderson,
the firm's executive vice president. "This program is designed to give customers the opportunity to create
personalized, superbly-crafted, one-of-a-kind upholstery."
"We
have assembled a select group of master cutters, sewers and upholsterers into a dedicated plant," Manderson
said. "These highly skilled artisans have over 175 years of collective experience. They are immensely
capable of creating truly unique and beautiful furniture."
This team will process orders, one at a time, and design and engineer the product to the
customer's specification, create the fabric cutting patterns for that item and then hand build it, step-by-step,
using hardwood frames, lush internal padding and cushioning, detailed hand-tailored upholstering and personalized
inspection.
Since every order is exclusive it is impossible to inventory component parts. Therefore delivery
times can range from 8 to 12 weeks.
"People will wait for the benefits of quality and customization," Manderson said.
Knowing that a crucial component of the program is exacting customer service, Manderson promoted
Loria Chapman to head the E.J. Victor Custom customer service and communication team. Previously she served
as a member of the company's upholstery customer service group.
Edward W. Phifer, III, Joseph B. Manderson and John Victor
Jokinen founded E.J. Victor in 1990 in Morganton, NC. Together, the founders created a corporate culture that
maintains an unwavering commitment to preserving time-honored, local construction methods used to create exquisite
furniture for the home.
