HIGH POINT, NC: October 2004 A sustained best
selling E.J. Victor collection since its April 2002 début, Julia
Gray, an enchanting assortment of European antique reproductions initially
characterized by its stunning application of eglomisé, continues
to build on its success with new dining and bedroom settings.
Julia Gray, an internationally recognized furniture
designer and interior decorator, constantly stays ahead of the high-end
fashion curve by creating truly unique artistic decoration on antique
Continental styles. Mirrored table aprons and drawer fronts, eglomisé
table tops, and delicate gold leaf painting on bed posts accent her
collection.
Octobers introductions include a dramatic period round dining
room table crafted in fiery Maple veneers with Ebony accents. This highly
polished top rests upon a concave veneered base supported by hairy paw
feet. This table will be offered as a 60" or 72" round.
The chairs shown with the table feature a low sweeping arm, gentle in
slope that supports while easily letting dinner guests slip close to
the table. These chairs, like most of E.J. Victors wood products,
are available in finishes ranging from the cutting-edge exotic to the
time-tested traditional, all hand applied and polished.
An antique coffee table in Julias home in the Hamptons serves
as inspiration for a new living room table. Its antiqued mirror top
is accentuated by a wood frame in a warm honey color and unusual stop-fluted
column legs.
Julia has had tremendous success with her bedroom introductions
and this Market is no exception. The new mirrored bedroom chest and
armoire add more options and amplify the appeal of her collection.
John Jokinen, President of E.J. Victor, said, "Julias beds
are unique and have been wonderfully successful for our company. Designers
often think of Julia Gray and her creative designs when searching for
clients bedroom needs."
Ms. Gray is originally from Kentucky and traveled to New York City where
she landed her first job as a designer for the leading furniture retailer,
W&J Slone. While there she continued her education at Parsons and
the New York School of Interior Design. Subsequent jobs included buying
for Bloomingdales and directing interior design efforts for Macys.
She is internationally recognized for creating reproduction collections
that take inspirations from the full panorama of decorated furniture
English, Continental, Western and Asian. Renowned for its vast
selection and fine quality furniture, Julia Gray, Ltd. has experienced
steady growth and now owns and operates its own manufacturing plant
in New York. The firm has showrooms in every major design center across
the country, all offering fine reproduction furniture, Italian imports
and 18th- and 19th-Century painted antique furniture and decorative
accessories.
Edward W. Phifer, III, Joseph B. Manderson
and John Victor Jokinen founded E.J. Victor in 1990 in Morganton,
NC. Together, the founders created a corporate culture that maintains
an unwavering commitment to preserving time-honored, local construction
methods used to create exquisite furniture for the home.
